MAP : ![]() NOTE: This map is not to scale! [Full Size Map Here.] RECEIVING BAY: When your eyes adjust, you find yourself in a slightly spartan room, standing on a platform that seems to be made of glass or some sort of crystal. Energy currents in blues and greens swirl within it, dizzying and hypnotizing if stared at for too long. If anyone has the both the intelligance and stupidity to find out the furtherest they can travel away from HQ while in New York City they'll find a circular pattern with this room at it's cetner. When reaching the outskirts of the large black circle you'll begin to feel faint. If you travel further out of it you'll be able to watch yourself fade away and disburse into nothing. FOREST: Down a hallway across from a RESTRICTED area, a vast room filled with a living, breathing, underground forest can be found. Here, deep underground, the sun shines, a small creek flows, birds sing, and one could really believe they were outside. There's even a pleasant breeze! Weird, right? REC ROOM: On the opposite side of the complex, near the dormitories, one will find another vast room labeled "REC ROOM". Inside, there is a seating area with basic refreshments (water, sports drinks), board games, a more relaxed seating area with sofas and places to read, a separate room that contains exercise equipment, another with an indoor pool, and a small basketball court. In a separate game room, there are arcade machines, an air hockey table, pool table, and ping pong table. There are also book shelves with a small selection of recreational books and news papers. The news papers are usually a day behind. CAFETERIA: Across the main hall from the REC ROOM, one will find the double doors leading to the CAFETERIA. Outside, on a easel chalkboard, can be found the menu items available for the meal currently being served. Inside, several dozen tables and chairs take up most of the floor, and the din of conversation is comparable to a high school cafeteria. The older gentleman in the kitchen will come to the counter when approached to see which of the selection you'd like. We'd really recommend sticking to the offered selection. DORMITORIES: Situated in a wing complex near the REC ROOM and the CAFETERIA is the DORMITORY wing. Rooms are solo and very small, ten to a hallway, and contain a single bed, a small dresser with mirror, and a small standing closet. Each hall has a common room at the end with seating and a five shelf bookcase, off of which are male and female bathrooms with showers, and a laundry room with four washers and four dryers. LIBRARY: This isn’t a usual Library. It isn’t very large and has one computer, which is used by the man at the front desk. This is the only public computer that has access to the internet however using it means having the receptionist, Kevin, hovering over your shoulder. He takes security as seriously as he takes books. He’s fine with online shopping but he’d prefer you use the computer to look up books or other references. The library doesn’t have a lot of frivolous books in it but it will take requests and order more books. There are history books, technical texts and how-to guides as well as maps and other useful information. There is a section of very old books that is currently in a locked part of the library. You are welcome to read them however you need an escort. Most of the books in that section are too fragile to hold and are in the process of being re-scribed. Other books in that section are off limits due to the dangerous natures hidden inside of them. The receptionist will schedule times to take a look in that section, who accompanies you, might vary. OFFICES: These aren’t fancy offices but they get the job done. Most of the doors remain closed but people will find that they open during certain hours when people are available to speak. Each office is decorated differently but they all have standard items: a desk, a lamp, draws, paper and other miscellaneous office supplies. There are a total of 12 offices and it looks like they are all taken. Some offices are labeled while others are not and just locked. MEETING ROOMS: RESTRICTED PLAYGROUND/DAY CARE/SCHOOL: With so many families living in HQ there is a place for their children to go and be looked after. There are small classes containing several ages with each student working on their own task as well as nap time and play time for younger children. The play area has a small jungle gym as well as a ball pit and toys scattered throughout the room. They can’t play outside but the bright design of the room and the placement of lively green plants make the area feel alive and natural. The ages of children here range from infants to sixteen. There is a small room with 6 desks for older students to study and get help from the woman running the center. The caretaker has her PHD in applied physics but is able to help through other subjects as well. HOSPITAL WING: The hospital is exactly what you would have expected of an area titled hospital; white walls and floors, the smell of antiseptic and doctors and nurses running in all directions. There was a receptionist area with a waiting room. Just beyond the doors were rows and rows of beds. There were a few private rooms that were marked for quarantine but otherwise people had to deal with limited privacy, having curtains that could be drawn around any of the beds. There were a few people resting though it was hard to tell that some of them were hurt. There are both magical and practical forms of treatment. The magical is headed by a woman named Rachel and the practical side is headed by a doctor named James. Both of whom are hard to speak to directly. MAGIC WING: There are a few large rooms down this hall, each one is about 2500 Square feet in size with padded floors much like a dojo. They are all warded to keep magical forces inside and some have tools available for training purposes as well. Some of these tools include: candles, staffs, crystals, obstacle course equipment. There is a closest in the middle of the hall that has all spare items used for training purposes. There are always people coming and going. It's impossible to be in the training area alone since most of the people living in HQ are mages. PHYSICAL TRAINING WING: RESTRICTED GARAGE: It’s amazing how many cars those in HQ own, it’s also amazing how little people drive. It’s safe in HQ and some families prefer to stay within the protection of its wards while keeping their cars in the garage. It raises a few stories and merges with another parking garage on street level. This is the easiest exit out of HQ though it follows the same rules as the others. The first floor of the garage is a mechanics shop where they keep up with maintenance on the cars and work on those that need repairs. The second floor has motor cycles, bike cycles and smaller modes of transportation and then the next few floors have cars. When exiting through this area you’ll find yourself near the Empire State Building. SECURITY ROOMS: RESTRICTED MOVIE ROOM: RESTRICTED EXITS: There are two notable exits beneath the complex and both are very far apart. The south exit will lead you to the north side of SoHo while the North exit dumps you just shy of Central park (Next to the Museum of Modern Art). If you were to go out both of these exits you’ll realize that HQ is actually a few miles long (3.2 miles) and about a mile wide (1.1 miles). The exits are not difficult to find if you know where they are however, as Charles stated in his address, there are rules that the populace in HQ would like you to follow. Don’t show anyone where the entrance is. They are warded, in that; they can’t be found unless you already know where they are located. Do not bring random strangers home and make sure you aren’t followed when leaving the city. If you happen to make a scene in the city there is a chance that you will compromise those seeking safety within HQ. This also makes deliveries tricky. Personal items are sent to a PO Box (information on the PO Box is found in shops) and must be manually retrieved. Once a month they will be retrieved for you. You cannot have food delivered. |
